The Research Behind Smoking in Movies

Through grants to established educational and research institutions, the Foundation is committed to reducing youth exposure to tobacco in films. We have collaborated with several organizations to help bring attention to the issue and the importance of protecting America's children from pro-tobacco messaging and images in feature films:

  • Smoke Free Movies at the University of California, San Francisco’s Center for Tobacco Control Research and Education
  • Researchers from Dartmouth University
  • The Avalon Theater study in Washington, D.C.
  • Local and state health departments across the country
